Comparing travel prices
There are many travel sites that compare prices. The best ones I have found are www.kayak.com and www.wego.com . http://www.hotelscombined.com/ and www.travbuddy.com/ are also worth noting, yet I have found that they use the same backend as www.wego.com.
If you are into bidding read http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2008-02-21-priceline_N.htm. checking http://www.betterbidding.com/ will give you a good idea of what you can get, where and for what price if you use hotwire (www.hotwire.com) and priceline (www.priceline.com)
http://www.hotelclub.com/ is not always cheap, yet you can join their dream club, which sometimes has nice promotions with significant hotel discounts.
Last place to check for hotel specials and flights is travelzoo (www.travelzoo.com)
